Medical Visit to Yasawa Islands

October 18, 2021

From December 1st, Fiji is preparing to open its borders to International travellers and the Yasawa Islands communities are doing their bit to help.

Recently, Nanuya Island Resort was proud to host Dr. Waqainabete and his team of fourteen Medical Officers, who were on a Ministerial tour of all the Medical Centres in the Yasawa region.

The visit which lasted for three days, was primarily to tour these centres and ensure the areas were ready to once again be in a position to welcome International visitors – both from a health and safety perspective as well as a clear understanding of the health protocols to be followed by all involved.

With the pending easing of travel restrictions, it will be critical for all the Yasawa Medical Centres to be ready and trained to cater for and react to any situation that should arrive.

Nanuya Island Resort has been a front runner in training staff and of course, vaccinating all workers, so as to be in the safest possible condition to once again welcome visitors back to our Resort.

Over the past 18 months, the Management and staff at Nanuya Island Resort have been actively involved in all aspects of health, safety and ongoing protocols – but have also continued to provide their facilities for approved Medical staff – their boats for transfers to and from villages and Medical Centres - and ensuring that as many people (both staff and villagers) are vaccinated as a priority.

We will continue to serve the Yasawa Islands community in whatever way possible to be in a position when we can once again stand on our beach and welcome our International Family and new friends to our shores.
