Introducing The Sunset Boys.
The Yasawa Islands are known the world over for its amazing and colourful sunsets and there is no better place to view them than from Nanuya Island Resort.
…and to make the experience even better, Nanuya Island Resort has welcomed its very own resident band – The Sunset Boys.
The trio is of made up of three cousins, hailing from the island of Moturiki – part of the Lomaiviti Group, off the eastern coast of the mainland.
The Sunset Boys are not just any singing group – everyone can sing in Fiji! The cousins, comprising lead singer Iliesa Kanadavo, Jone Yalivakaloloma and Eroni Tikoisuva have been singing their entire lives from family gatherings to long term residencies at some of Fiji’s premier resorts.
The Band have released five CDs, under their other name of ‘Mudre in Cagi kei Nasiriva’which loosely translates to Nasiriva Breeze. Beginning with their first release ‘Mosi vei au’ in 2004 the cousins have established an enviable reputation across Fiji – and now with their sixth release (Mataka Vou) will be available from Nanuya Island Resort, it’s an exciting time for our very own Sunset Boys. Mataka Vou translates to New Dawn and so the title is very appropriate to their residency at Nanuya Island Resort.
It’s not many resorts that can boast of a resident band with credentials such as our Sunset Boys. From studying at the National Music Conservatory, to performing with the National Youth Band and with years of high standard performance at some of Fiji’s most prestigious resorts, The Sunset Boys have done it all!
We are very fortunate to have The Sunset Boys here at Nanuya Island Resort and they can be heard performing most nights as our guests enjoy an evening cocktail while the blood red sun sets over the western horizon.
