BREAKING NEWS FROM NANUYA ISLAND RESORT!

FETA 2017 Sustainability Awards

February 26, 2018

It was a special night for the owners of Nanuya Island Resort on Saturday February 17th 2018 – they were honoured with the prestigious Sustainability Award At the 2017 ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) held at the Sheraton Denarau.

Only three and a half years ago, Ivan and Val Parker took over the ownership and management of Nanuya Island Resort with a specific and unorthodox vision. Of course, they wanted to operate and run a well maintained, professionally run resort of International standard BUT they also wanted to create and provide a sustainable and healthy lifestyle for the local people.

Over these ensuing years, Nanuya Island Resort, under the vision and work ethic of Ivan and Val Parker, has emerged as a jewel in the Yasawa crown. Solar panels have been installed, which means the resort now no longer relies on traditional diesel fuelled generator power. A desalination plant provides water year round with no fears of those long dry spells impacting on the resort or its guests. Ivan has developed a large plantation, meaning the resort is truly self sufficient and no longer reliant on purchasing from the mainland – fruit and vegetables are also sold to surrounding resorts and villages, giving both visitors and the local residents access to much needed variety in their diet.

A waste treatment plant, erection of 'Nalokini Vuvale' the largest staff quarters in the islands and even a fully operating bakery, means a standard of comfort unknown previously in the Yasawa Islands.

True to their vision, on the night of the Awards, Ivan and Val paid special tribute to the staff and workers behind the scenes, who have helped transform Nanuya Island Resort over these past years.

Visit Nanuya Island Resort and see for yourself what a simple vision can produce and make sure you say hi to Ivan and Val. You’re sure to see them working hard to create an environment for both sustainability and welfare – and of course ensure you have a wonderful stay in our Yasawa Paradise.
